The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in schools have been subsumed in the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA). Now ICT in Schools is a component of the RMSA. The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Schools was launched in December, 2004 and revised in 2010 to provide opportunities to secondary stage students to mainly build their capacity on ICT skills and make them learn through computer aided learning process. The Scheme is a major catalyst to bridge the digital divide amongst students of various socio economic and other geographical barriers. The Scheme provides support to States/UTs to establish computer labs on sustainable basis.

Computer Aided Learning Program (CAL)

The Computer Aided Learning Program (CAL), a component of SSA, is primarily introduced in rural government elementary schools covering the classes 1 to 8 to attract and retain children and also in the process, enhance the quality of learning by making “Learning Play”, “Assessment Fun” and “Equal knowledge for all”.

Objectives

  • To make the Students and Teachers familiar with Computer.
  • To teach the subjects through computers.
  • To use the educational software for hard spots
  • To enable the government school students especially rural area students to be at par with the urban and advance school students

Benefits

  • This program will improve the IT literacy in the rural areas particularly and will go a long way in removing the digital divide in the state.
  • Improve the interest of students in school studies and thus increase school attendance and better performance in examinations.
  • It will improve the teaching process with the integration of the IT in the class.
  • Improve student and teacher learning and productivity.
  • Make the students better prepared for getting into secondary education and continue with Computer Education at a higher level

Achievements

The District has covered/approved all 34 Higher Secondary Schools and 14 Secondary Schools among the target of 139 High and Higher Secondary Schools under the ICT scheme tills date.
